ORANGE COUNTY, Fla - A man holding a squeegee was charging at cars on Orange Blossom Trail late Tuesday night. Deputies said they used the taser to calm him down, but he later died. All indications are the suspect was out of control.
The sheriff's office said 45-year-old Jose Amaro was running in and out of traffic on South Orange Blossom Trail at West Landstreet Road, lunged at deputies and ran from them. They said he was high on a mix of cocaine and alcohol. When you add a taser, the results can be deadly.
The sheriff's office said Deputy Andrew Reynolds used his taser on Amaro three times, because it wouldn't work on him. He either ran back out into traffic or charged toward the officer.
