Let's compare and contrast...

In Dyker Heights (Brooklyn), New York - a 70 year old woman needed 27 stitches after a man broke into her home:

Officials said the intruder entered through a kitchen window at the Dyker Heights apartment, which is one unit in a six-family building, on 70 Street and found the homeowner inside.

The burglar clubbed the woman, who is in her 70s and identified as Carmela Boccadifuoco, on the back of the head with a blunt instrument and fled the scene, police said.

Then we have this woman who also had an intruder break into her home - in Texas...

The woman said she grabbed her pistol and walked into the living room where she saw a man standing in her house. She fired a shot in the man's direction, which sent him running through -- and shattering -- a glass door as he fled the scene.

The homeowner was not hurt.

Thank God for the strict gun control laws we have here in New York, huh?
