Are Americans Safer In Iraq?

Department of Defense Statistics.
American Casualties In Iraq.
January - May 2008: 14

FBI Statistics

Murder rate January - May 2008

Detroit, MI: 47 Murders
Baltimore, MD: 43 Murders
New Orleans, LA: 37 Murders
Newark, NJ: 37 Murders
ST Louis, MO: 37 Murders
Oakland, CA: 36 Murders
Washington, DC: 29 Murders
Cincinnati, OH: 28 Murders

Should I continue? There are 14 other American Cities that have a higher murder rate for American Citizens than Iraq.

Philadelphia, PA
Buffalo, NY
Kansas City, MO
Atlanta, GA
Memphis, TN
Miami, Florida
Houston, TX
Milwaukee, WI
Indiana, IN
Pittsburgh, PA
Cleveland, OH
Chicago, IL
Phoenix, AZ
Minneapolis, MN
Dallas, TX
Columbus, OH

And 5 cities that have 13 murders.
Jacksonville, FL
Tulsa, OK
Mobile, AL
Boston, MA
Stockton, CA

Oh, and I noticed another thing, the majority of these cities...
Obamamessiah country... hope and change.. hope and change.

You have a better chance surviving a tour in Iraq, than you do walking the streets of Detroit, and that's just sad.

** UPDATE **
So NY Nerd wants me to do math, and here it is.

Currently there are 158,000 Military personnel and another 50,000 Non-Military Personnell, which leaves Iraq with 208,000 Americans, on par with The following cities.

Mobile, AL - 250,000
St Petersburg, Fl - 253,000

What does it break down to per capita? If you don't do the breakdown you are comparing apples, oranges, and bananas (mmmmm bananas - can you tell it's almost lunchtime?) and the statistics are meaningless.
here is the break down.. your in iraq.. bad guy wants to kill you, there is a good chance you don't get shot, now you're in detroit, bad guy wants to kill you... your ass is getting shot.

I know math isn't your strong point but this is fairly simple: If there are 100 Americans in Iraq and 14 of them get shot, that means your chances of getting shot are 14 in 100 or 14%; if there are 100,000 Americans in Detroit and 47 of them get shot, your chances of getting shot in Detroit are 47 in 100,000 or .047%. Under that scenario, your ass is much less likely to get shot in Detroit than in Iraq.
dont let logic get in the way of my rant.
Estimated Population:

Detroit: 4.5 million

Baltimore: 7.6 million

New Orleans: 454,863

Newark: 2.1 million

Should I go on?

Also - 208,000 is still considerably less than 250,000 and 253,000 & since you haven't supplied the number of murders in those cities during the comparable period, you can't calculate the per capita murder rate and you can't even see if you're right about those two cities.

For the record - 6.73% chance of being shot in Iraq, based on the numbers you provided. That's pretty fucking high, by any measure.

And what exactly is your point? That it's SAFE in Iraq for soldiers (or Americans)? It's not. You can argue that it's a danger that we have to deal with based on our goals there, but you cannot argue that it's safe.
